In 2007, after relocating to Mobile, Alabama from Deerfield Beach and Lighthouse Point, Florida, The Lighthouse Press trimmed its author/title roster, rearranged its distribution model and tested e-book sales with offers exclusively from the company’s online portal.
“Financial and recognition hurdles, as well as competition for shelf space, were the impetus for our expansion,” Publisher Ron Richard said. “We played with the idea of e-books as early as 2001 but it wasn’t until now that reader hardware such as Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes and Noble’s Nook and devices by Sony and Samsung have turned e-publishing into more than a novelty.”
The first e-book titles that the Lighthouse Press is offering for Amazon’s Kindle are eight volumes in the Marshal Thompson series, by Paul L. Thompson. The “Old West” Series includes Shorty Thompson US Marshal, Silver of the Black Range, Willow Lane, Revenge in Tascosa, Ride Hard for Rayado, Malpais, Killers and Horse Thieves and Children of the West.
