Welcome To The Lighthouse Press, Inc. RSS News Feed Page
For many web surfers RSS sounds like technical gibberish and we thought a simplified explanation was in order. If you are already famliar with RSS you can jump to the Reader download section by clicking
HERE.

What is RSS?
It's like having a subscription newspaper delivered to your house. So, instead getting the newspaper out of a street vending machine, a newspaper boy delivers it to your doorstep.

In this case, the newspaper is our website news, the newspaper boy is a small program called an RSS reader and your front porch is actually your computer. That's basically it in a nutshell.

In other words, if you don't want to surf over to The Lighthouse Press site for news, we'll deliver it to you free of charge. And what's more, you'll have the ability to get the same kind of news from other web sites as well.

How Much Does it Cost?
Zero. Zip. Nada. Nothing.

What does RSS stand for?
RSS was originally offered by Netscape in 1999 and then abandoned in 2001. The letters "R-S-S" stood for "Rich Site Summary." From what we've come to understand, another company called UserLand Software then created an RSS software program, the initials of which meant, "Really Simple Syndication." In other corners of the web "R-S-S" was also intended to stand for, "RDF Site Summary."

But no matter what "R-S-S" stands for, or who "invented" it, RSS means immediate news access for you.

How Does It Work?
Whenever we post a news item or press release to the News Box on our Menu page, we also post a headline and a news item description in an RSS file that is on our web server. This file then sends out the headline and news item description to computers that have RSS readers and subscriptions to our news feed. When you, the web site visitor, subscribe to the news feed, you automatically receive the news headline and news item description. Without actually visiting our site, you can then review the page of our website on which the news item is posted.

How To Subscribe
If you already have a news reader, then subscribe when you are anywhere on the Lighthouse Press or Lighthouse Entertainment web site (just click the RSS/XML icon and copy the URL that pops up). With your Feed Reader open, you'll then click on the menu, "File" option and choose, "Add Feed." You then type in the following URL just as shown (copy and paste it, if you like):

http://www.thelighthousepress.com/lighthousefeed.xml

If you don't have a news feed reader, we offer one for free below.

What's the catch?
There isn't one. No Strings attached. The Feed Reader installation file takes 1.46 megabytes of space (that's just over one floppy disk worth of space) and installs within moments.

You pick the installation options you want and after installing go to, "File" on the menu and chose "Add Feed." Type in the URL of our RSS Feed File (http://www.thelighthousepress.com/lighthousefeed.xml) and you're set to go.

And So Much More
The Feed Reader also comes with a number of news feeds that will automatically download from other sites. If you don't want them, simply delete the subscriptions. You do that by clicking on the folders in which the feed is located and right clicking on the green Feed icon. Chose, "Delete Current Feed" and it is gone.

On the other hand, you may want to add news feeds from other web sites. You can do that, too!

We hope you enjoy this web site service. And thank you for visiting The Lighthouse Press, Inc. on the web.
